3. Dub a tapered abdomen with the olive brown dubbing from the base of the tail up to about one eye length back from the hook eye. Wrap the thread back over the front edge of the dubbing to just in front of the hook point as shown.

4. Tie in a single strand of Mirage flash along the top of the abdomen. Wrap back over the flash to about one-third of the way back from the hook eye.

5. Tie in a clump of about a dozen blue dun hackle fibers by their butt ends at the base of the flash. Clip any excess butt ends from the hook. Note the bare space at the front of the hook.
